Jake was born at home after a short labour and delivery (though it seemed like an eternity at the time!) I went into labour after a date night for Josh's birthday where I purposefully ordered hot wings to try to induce labour. I guess anything can happen! Thank you to my brother in law, Jordan, for offering to babysit so we could have a night out! I went to bed late that night and at about 1:30 or so started to feel some contractions before I even had a chance to fall asleep. I came downstairs and edited the maternity photos Chloe had just given me that night to try to pass the time. I called Carol (my midwife) at about 3:30 when things started to progress and decided I should wake up josh too. Got in the tub around 4:30 I think when I needed some pain relief, then it was just a waiting game. At 5:00 I heard Mya cry out and josh went to help her. She occasionally wakes up in the middle of the night and comes to our room and sleeps on a little bed on the floor I have for her, and I usually don't even know she is there until morning. She hadn't done this in a while though so I was surprised to hear her! Josh left to try to get her back to sleep in her room, and shortly after the babies heartrate dropped slightly so I had to move to the bed, it quickly went back up and they figured he must have just been turning and that it is normal for the heartrate to drop like that, they just wanted to be on the safe side. Mya was still awake and I didn't want Josh to miss the birth of his only son so he came to the doorway holding her and she got to see the baby born! (she wasn't at an angle to see anything but she figured out pretty soon what was happening! She was so quiet from being half asleep and just came and cuddled with me and the baby. It was pretty sweet. I didn't plan on having any kids around because I didn't want to freak them out but it was special sharing those first few moments with her.
The big girls woke up about an hour later and were pretty surprised to have the baby here! They loved watching the midwives doing the measuring and checking the baby.
Jake didn't love being weighed, lol!
Or the bath...

He loved big sister cuddles!
On his second day, cuddling with an excited Mya!
