I just finished reading a book that my friend lent to me called "Being the Mom - 10 Coping strategies I learned by accident because I had children on purpose." Ok it is so funny! Emily Watts is such an entertaining writer. She really made me think about a lot of things about my life! I think my favorite chapter was called "Factor in what's playing in the background. She just basically said not to worry too much when you make mistakes as long as what playing in the background(of their life) things like unconditional love, encouragement, and praise, then it's not such a big deal if we make small mistakes here and there. Children are pretty resilient and they forgive when we have a bad day and lose our tempers! Another chapter was called "Be Grateful for the things that you HAVE to do" this was a good one for me because instead of complaining that my kids are being whiny it helped to to remember that at least I am able to have the joy of having children (something a lot of people aren't blessed with) and when I am upset because my couches are so dirty from Jadyn coloring on them and Heidi peeing on them (don't worry if you come over I do clean them every time!) and I just want new ones, that at least I have couches and a home to put those couches in, something that not everyone in the world is able to have. We have so much and sometimes it is hard to remember how blessed we are. It's a good read, I highly recommend it to mom's in any stage of life. (There is a really good chapter on teenagers too)
This last weekend conference was really good. Of course with 2 kids under 3, watching every session all the way though is virtually impossible, but we try! (I can't wait for the Ensign to come out so I can read it all again!) but the most exciting announcement for me is that we are getting a temple just around the corner! YAY! I remember telling my mom a couple weeks ago (in a dramatic moment) that I just wish we had a temple, that would solve all my life;'s problem!! (at the time I was feeling the need to visit the temple but Heidi hadn't bee weined yet (she is now) and so it was hard to leave her for very long, and both my kids hate driving in the car so driving to the temple with them wasn't a likely option and would have definately killed the mood before we even arrived!) so it was fun when only a couple weeks later this was announced. I realize now that it probably wont solve all my problem in life but it sure will help me get to the temple more often! (something I am so looking forward too) I feel so blessed to have been able to listen to the prophet and apostles of the lord this last weekend. We are so lucky!!!! Ok so i guess this is a good prelude to thanksgiving this weekend. On that note, here are a few more things that I am grateful for while we are celebrating being thankful!
- I have the most loving, understanding, patient, adoring, hardworking and handsome husband that I could ever ask for. (He is also the most loving, understanding, patient, adoring, hardworking and handsome father anyone could ask for)
- I have two beautiful daughters that I get to spend every day of my life with painting, reading stories, going to parks, swimming, grocery shopping, coloring, building blocks, playing cars and barbies (the list goes on).
- I have a wonderfully supportive family (my parents and sibling) and inlaws who are equally supportive and loving, and we get to love so close to both of them so my kids can build relationships with their grandparents, aunts and uncles.
- we have a church ward that is so fabulous and dedicated that makes us work hard and become better members and faithful family
- we are blessed to have the fullness of the gospel in our lives and a prophet that leads our church and speaks to his people regularly to guide and direct us and make sure we stay of course.
- we have the best neighbors that we get to chat with all the time and build relationships that we might not otherwise
- I have a beautiful home to live in, in a good part of town and I feel safe and secure here.
- I have a group of friends and family (including the best cousins ever) who are so fun to be with and share my life with!
- I have been given talents to develop (some which still need developing big time!) in which I can better serve others and my family
- My husband has a good job that he loves and gives us security
- we are happy, healthy, and blessed!

Oh I want to read it. I love learning a good read. Also did you know you can already watch the conferences online now right away? we totally took our time to watch the sessions on line and it was great, all during nap and bedtimes! and even though I do not live there anymore, SO exciting for the temple. I totally cried!

the book sounds awesome...I think we can all use some perspective now and again....can't wait to pick it up! (on that note...what a great baby gift!)

I hate errors...I meant to add *we* at the end of *aren't*
oh and of course the most important part....LOVE YOU!!!!
there now I can sleep well
What a good, inspiring post. I know, I'm so excited about the temple in Calgary. It's about time! Maybe that will sway our decision about where to move in the future. Also, it's good to hear I'm not the only one with a whiny kid. Plus, Margo's never peed on the couch, so at least I've got that going for me!
I LOVE thi s post!! I'm going to have to read that book, it sounds great! And I love your list of things to be thankful for - it's very similar to mine, and for that I'm grateful. We really have awesome lives hey? Although, I'm a bit jealous of the temple so close to you. Seriously, I'm rethinking where I live right now. Oh well. We're still close.
I love your posts and pics and everything. A temple in Calgary is the greatest ever!!! I love haveing one in edmonton so close and convenient!! love ya
