A day off spent with Barbie

Today Josh decided to take the girls out to Strathmore to visit grandma. I opted to stay home and have some time to myself (and Mya). So with a full day ahead of me, I did what any good mother would do, and spent the next several hours sewing a new dress for Jadyn's barbies. Not too hard, right? Well 4 hours later I am finished and still alive to blog about it! Will I be making more of these dresses in the near future? At 4 hours a pop, not likely. Although as a side note in those 4 hours I had to take breaks to feed Mya, and make soup, salad, and bread for dinner, so time actually spent cutting and sewing is probably down to 3 hours. Much better! I know we are all dying to see photos of the finished product, and since I couldn't figure out Barbies best angle in this dress, there are quite a few.

It started with these beauties. I had to draw and cut out each piece based on the online pattern which I have no idea where I found, just in case you are wondering, sorry.

And the dress...

Ideally I would have a whole cute wardrobe full of homemade dresses and outfits for all their many barbie dolls, but man I would get nothing done around here!

Pretty much a perfect zipper application if I do say so myself!

And good grief someone has got to do something about that barbies hair! Maybe I will work on that before Jadyn gets home! Oh maybe if I pull out the piece of thread that will help.

There you have it. A whole days work, but not bad eh? Oh and I added the piece on the bottom that is a different fabric, I thought the dress was looking a little too short for my kids to be playing with if they want the right idea about modesty, so I added that in later. Oh and on that note, I totally meant to put on sleeves but it was just all getting to be a little too much and the sleeves were so tedious, so I had to skip them for this time.

(By the way I am trying to get Josh to do a blog post about his trip to Peru, it just wouldn't be the same if I wrote about it, and I want it included in our book!)
